whatever, whenever, wherever

29 May 2014

Last week I finally went out for dinner with my uni friends to celebrate the completion of our final deadlines. We decided to go to Chop Shop, I've been wanting to go here for ages so I was extra excited!

We started off with some starters to share which were all good!

The hot wings are SO good but they are spicy so be warned, dipping it in lots of sauce helps though! I'd defo recommend this as a starter.

Crispy Hot Wings with Cashel Blue Cheese // £6

They have a selection of "Jars" which come with sourdough bread, these are quite good if you want something quite light and cold. We went for the crab cocktail which was really nice and refreshing & the waitress also offered us more bread after!

Crab Cocktail - Avocado & Marie Rose // £7

If you're after something warm and heart, the Cottage Pasta Pie is perfect. This was really delicious and the kind of dish that would cheer you up right away if you were having a bad day. It could easily be eaten as a main dish with some sides too.

Cottage Pasta Pie - Basil Gnocchi Pasta, Braised Oxtail  & Parmigiano // £10

The Scotch egg was the dish that I chose, I really wanted to try it because I've never tried Scotch eggs before. It tasted exactly how I expected, very good (I can't compare it to any others though as it was my first time) and was probably my favourite out of the four!

Cotechino Scotch Egg with Salsa Verde // £5

For mains, 3 of us went for the hanger steak and 1 of us went for the linguine. I had mine medium rare with béarnaise sauce and some caramelised onions which came in a little jar on the side, it all went well together and I was so satisfied after I finished. My friend also got a side of onion rings which I'd recommend too, tasty!

Creekstone USDA Hanger Steak - 180g // £16

We were full so me and one other friend just shared two scoops of sorbet for dessert which was refreshing but nothing special. Overall we all enjoyed the meal, the food and the service was great and I'd defo come back again. We all left satisfied and headed off to Freud Bar for some cocktails then El Cantara for shisha and drinks before heading home.
